Lack of good stress management techniques can compromise your social appearance as well sex life too and makes you less romantic. Because, it makes you highly irritative and aggressive to other people around you. Of course you know ladies don’t want irritative and aggressive men in their lives.
Though the modern world has brought many possibilities just as it has brought many problems to mankind. Man’s daily life is full of stress elements or stressors. The work that man do, crisis with the loved ones, death of the loved ones, his domestic life, the traffic jam on the road, the debt he has to settle, harassment and bullying at work, financial difficulties, the mortgage to be paid, pregnancy, job loss, disability, illness, and sexual difficulties among others come together sometimes to make our daily lives stressful.

Stress causes a change in the body and brings about feelings of unhappiness, sadness, anger and being scared. Many health problems of today are direct result of adrenaline and noradrenalin conflict’s unused chemicals and hormones released into the blood stream in an effort to prepare the body under stress for action. The continued release of these chemicals and hormones into the bloodstream leads to stress if they pile up in the blood system for too long. They, then cause disequilibrium in the body system that leads to stress.

Stress affects every human being; children, youth, adults, the rich, the poor, athletes, students, men and women It affects men more than women. This is because men evaluate themselves more regularly on measurable things like personal achievement and financial worthiness than women. Stress is the major causes of absenteeism in workplaces. As said above, medically, stress has many implications to our lives and can trigger off serious health problems in ones life if it is not properly managed. Health problems like ulcer, arthritis, weight loss, chronic headaches, lack of appetite, mouth ulcers (ulceration), lack of concentration and poor memory, susceptibility to malaria, heart problems, stroke and other opportunistic health problems among others.

Stress can instigates serious health problems in the body if it is persistent and goes on for too long in the body. On the other hand lack of stress too on the body system is bad for the overall well-being of the body. Every man and woman needs stress in her or his life to live long. A stress free life for a very long time is injurious to human health because it brings boredom and dull moments into one’s life.

The health implications of stress free life on body can better be appreciated if we consider the life after retirement. According to studies, it has been proved that retirees that get themselves another job after retirement live a healthier life compared to those who retired and never bother to get another job i.e. keep themselves busy.

Human body is machine-like and needs to be serviced i.e. it must be in use at all time to keep it healthy. Now that we know that stress is a necessary evil that will must live with everyday of our lives and the best we can do is to learn how to cope with it i.e. cut down our stress load when we notice it is symptoms in our body system. How then can we know that we are under stress, so as to control it is effects on us.

The following are some of the body symptoms of stress; consistent headaches, rashes on the body, nervousness, weight loss, increased urination, stomachaches, sweating, sleeplessness, forgetfulness, lack of concentration, mental errors, restlessness, trembling, nail biting, talking faster than before, angry outburst, moody (sad and depressed), scared, withdrawn and isolated, bad dreams, sleep walking, displaced aggression, desire for alcohol (alcoholism), hard drug usage, suicidal moves and talks, disorganized lifestyle, worn-out appearance, unkempt appearance and nagging among others.

As said above stress will always be part of our daily lives but if you are beginning to see one or more of the stress symptoms mention above in your life, it will be wise to flush it out or tone it down by incorporating some of the stress controlling tips below into your daily life before it gets too much of you.

1.Identify what is causing stress in your life. Once you do this, you will notice that the problem (or the situation) is not as bad as you have thought. This understanding creates a kind of equilibrium in the body system that checks adrenaline and noradrenalin conflicts giving the body the chance to rest and ability to restore and refresh itself.

2. Live a purposeful life. People that live a purposeful life, feel less stress than those that do not have a life goal or plan. If you are focused and have goals you are pursuing you will not be bothered too much about what is happening now at all, because you know where you are going, you are focused.

3. See yourself as a competent person and you should always be positive in your thinking. Seeing yourself as being competent gives the mind and the body ability to deal with stress elements in your life in a more adequate and capable way.

4. Find time to relax and cool off. If we all find time to relax and recreate after a stressful day we will be able to face whatever stress that is coming to us again. But lack of adequate relaxation make us less able to cope when additional stress factors come up on us. Always find time to relax.

If you cannot do this during the weekdays, you can do this during the weekend. During the weekend sleep well, watch interesting movies, listen to good music that appeals to your spirit. All these will keep your mind away from your stressors. You can also travel out of town most especially when you are on leave or holidays. All this is just to keep your mind off the stressor(s). Always find time to put fun in your life, they help a lot.

5. Take deep breath exercise regularly (for at least five minute each time and for as many times as possible a day). This will help supply more oxygen to the cells of the body. When the body is under stress adequate oxygen that the body needs to function properly will not circulate well in it.

6. For every stressful situation always close your eyes and visualize the good end result that you want repeatedly. Talk and talk to your mind to communicate and convince your desire to it This takes the mind off the (stressors) any time you do it.. Thinking and visualizing repeatedly the problem makes it hard and difficult for you to surmount it.

7. Read inspirational books, listen to inspirational tape, and participate in your religion’s programmes regularly. These are some of the good sources you can get good inspirational words.

8. Share your problem with somebody who cares and can be of help. A counselor, a religious leader, your mentor etc  Sharing what gives you stress with any one of those people will be a good idea because these people will give you a lot of advice and personal experiences of how they too dealt with similar situation in the past.

9. Exercise your body regularly. Exercises do a lot of good works in the body when they are done regularly. They ensures adequate supply of oxygen to the cells of the body, helps burn-out excess fat and eliminate metabolic wastes that may hinders the proper functioning of the body from it.

10. Play with your pillow. Throw it up, kick it and scream. Childish, yes its childish but I can tell you it relieves the body of stress, if done for some considerable number of times, say 1-10 minutes or more.
11. Eat good food. Eat energy giving and body building foods rather than junks when you want to eat. You need a lot of energy and body building foods during stressful situation because stress burn-off stored body energies faster and destroys body cells. For this reason one needs more energy giving and body building foods for more energy and to replace the damaged and destroyed cells of the body.

12. Avoid deadlines and set realistic goals for yourself, but avoid setting too much at a time. Be prepared for anything you need to do before hands e.g. prepare for your test and deadlines early enough to prevent rush that gives you stress.

13. Stop worrying. Stop worrying about tomorrow.  Tomorrow will take care of itself. Things may not even happen the way you are thinking of it now.

14. Learn from your mistakes and forgive yourself and others. If we forgive others, we reduce stress element in our bodies a lot. Keeping grudges against others build up additional stress in our body systems.

15. Get involved in things you love to do such as your hobby and pastimes. Help others in need, do something for others, if you can. This will give you joy and relief and helps you keep your mind off your stressors. Volunteer your time to help others please. You can do this by getting involved in any cause you have sympathy for.

16. Always solve your problems scientifically and systematically rather than panicking over them. Whenever you have any problem, brainstorm for solutions, think of the consequences of each solution, evaluate your choices and choose a solution.

17. Eat fruits and vegetables a lot. This boosts your body immunity during stressful situation and also helps you to weather the storm.

20. Do not live above your means i.e. income. Too many debts in mortgage, lease and others can be stressful when there is no adequate income coming into pay it. By reducing your debts load you also reduce your stress burden.

21. Drink more water than you used to, to compensate for the loss of body fluid due to excessive sweating during stressful situation. This helps you maintain osmotic pressure of the body.
22. Take hot bath regularly, most especially after your daily work schedules. If possible sit in the bath for 15 minutes in water slightly warmer than the body. But be careful not to do this longer than necessary so that it doesn’t lower your blood pressure (BP) too much.

23. Take some shots of red wine if you want to sleep in the night but not hard drugs and alcohols. They do you no good but do you more harm. They will only add to the stress load on the body. Some shots of red wine is good for your heart during stressful situation but don’t take this as an habit because you may become addicted to it if you don’t control your intakes of it .Take it once in a while not every now and then please.

24. Smile more and often rather than frowning. This improves blood flow to the brain and reduces blood pressure and stress level in the body and balances it up with correct body posture or carriage.

25. Use body perfumes. This is called aromatherapy for stress. Studies have shown that lovely aromas induce relaxation of your body muscles and it helps a lot.

26. Last but not the least, always have a balanced and focused mind. A mind like this will be less disturbed by any stressors. This is because it is a matured and cultured mind and this position of the mind can only be attained through the reading, attending of self
